The Amazing Snakeheads – ‘Testifying Time’

“I don’t give a fuck what people say,” says Dale Barclay frontman of Glasgow’s hottest export, The Amazing Snakeheads, in his interview with NME as RADAR stars of the week. His quote defeats the whole purpose of writing anything about them but the very fact that they have an actual persona is something so rare, it’s refreshing to hear someone say their mind. Think about it, when was the last time you actually discovered anything about what your favourite band actually THINKS. Thought it through? Probably came up with basically nothing apart from Kanye West’s Twitter rants and that’s sad, sad that bands don’t actually espouse their opinion on matters anymore. For example, for all I know Tame Impala are secretly ultra conservatives, highly implausible but I have no idea what they actually think.

The Amazing Snakeheads are leading the resurrection of Punk Rock n’ Roll but yet their bassist, William Coombe says, “We don’t try to fucking emulate anybody,”, who also happens to be a postman as well but regardless they are leading the charge of the old and bringing back opinions and explosive bass lines one track at a time. Their first single, ‘Testifying Time’ was released last month when they signed to Domino Records and oh boy, it is probably the shortest rip-snorter of a track I have heard in a long time. However, by the time you actually get into the song, it finishes!?
